Hello fellow music enthusiasts. I’m so pumped for this weekend which is why I wanted to change up the newsletter just a bit. This weekend I’m going to one my closest’s friends wedding. As if that wasn’t enough for me to be hyped, I’ll be officiating this wedding. So you know I have to be feeling good and be ready to have a good time.
This is why this week’s recs will be 11 essential wedding weekend songs. These will be basic af, but they’re ESSENTIAL. I’ll be sharing a playlist at the end of the newsletter with all the tracks. This playlist will be collaborative so I encourage you to add your wedding essentials.
Now, let’s get it on.
Boogie Wonderland - Earth, Wind & Fire
I mean, who the f*ck doesn’t like to boogie? This track speaks for itself. When it starts, you’re transported into a wonderland. It’s the type of song that forces you to stand up and head to the dance floor to have a great time.
Ladies Night - Kool & The Gang
Weddings are truly ladies night. All the ladies are feeling themselves, looking sharp, and having a good time. There is no better night for the ladies since it’s one of the few nights where they all can wear amazing dresses and comfy slippers. Therefore you need to have this song.
Give It To Me Baby - Rick James
It’s a known fact, nowadays, that the groom and bride get so drunk in their wedding night that they forget the “consummate their love” part. So, might as well have their sexy time with this sexy af song. If this bass doesn’t make you feel sexy idk what will.
Stayin Alive - Bee Gees
It’s the Bee Gees.
I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
We all know the number one rule at a wedding: don’t wear white. We all know not to be the center of attention at a wedding that isn’t ours. So this song let’s you play the main character for at least some minutes.
Dancing Queen - ABBA
It’s the greatest pop song of all time.
Ok so we’ve ended the PG-13 sections of the newsletters. These next few songs are when everybody has gotten a little too much to drink and are ready to start getting low.
Como Te Voy A Olvidar - Los Ángeles Azules
I’ve always wished that the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse are announced by Los Ángeles Azules’ trumpets. Also, if the accordion doesn’t make you wanna dance, you’re not invited to my wedding.
La Vida Es Un Carnaval - Celia Cruz
Que diosito me bendiga a Celia Cruz.
Que nadie sepa de mi sufrir - Margarita la Diosa de la Cumbia
Bruh, her name is LA DIOSA DE LA CUMBIA.
Suavemente - Elvis Crespo
This song is one of the many reasons why it’s amazing to be Latinx. Also, if you haven’t watch the video for this song, please do.
Payaso de Rodeo - Caballo Dorado
We live in such divided times. There is polarization as we’ve never seen before. But, if there’s something that can unite us all, it’s this song. I have no idea how it became the Mexican wedding, party, and quinceañera essential, but it is. So play it and enjoy it.
Waiting patiently for someone to marry me so i can have a party with these
